[Ann Reflection] Mirror Self-portrait in Bathroom
Mirror Self-portrait in Bathroom
Originally uploaded by annchouI find this interesting as there are
3-fold reflection in the bathroom:
me, the toilet and the clothes basket, and the reality!
I look serious as I have to hold my breathe for the 3 second exposure.
While I am very pleased with the illuminated curtains by the afternoon
light, the light level in the bathroom is low.
And interesting, when I browse for other mirror self-portraits in
flickr, most people look serious. Can somebody tell if it is for the
same reason?

Review and new photoblog
Topic: Blog
Having stop traveling for a while, except the unexpected on during May an June 2008 in East Coast Canada, New York, Washington DC and Maryland. I am in my career journey instead, trying to make a scheme of diversity, disability, health informatics, computer sciences and my experience working in medical laboratory. The record of my new career journey is kept at the following wiki cschinf

Looking back, it has been ten years since my first experience of web authoring. Wow. Things don’t change too much for me: still single, still studying and still loving craft, traveling and photography. Of course, there was some detour in between where I am now and where I was in 1998. I have been graduated from UBC and BCIT, been working as a medical laboratory technologist in four different organizations in British Columbia, Canada. Each one was further and further away from home. I have also been sad and upset about how my hearing impairment limit me to reach my full potential. Of course, I am proud and happy for where I am positioned now.

How everybody's ahlloween

How's every body Halloween?

Parade of all Souls used to be a very fun event on the second last Saturday before Halloween. It took place at Commerial Drive of city of Vancouver. It is one of the signature event hold by Public Dream Society.
Lots of performers, those on crank, playing fire, or music were together with thousands of participants in which most of them are costumed, if not all.

However, since the event of "Parade of all souls" was too successful and attracted too many people, this year the event is cancelled. Replaced this event is a quiet memorial and community shrine at Mountainview cementary. The event called "A night of all souls". Some of the participants were still costumed. But the focus of the event are on those who passed away. The atmosphere was calm as well as oriental.

Major path was lit by candles on ground. The venue was decorated with prayer flags, lanterns, flowers and individual shrine.

Learn now. Free! free Canon PowerShot SD400 Digital 5 .0 mp camera
Choose from this exact model or one of a few other high-end models.
This is legitimate! Please check out the links below to find
confirmations from various news sources like yahoo and CNN. I got a
free iPod from this same company, so I know it is legitimate.

The way it works is that you sign up for a trial membership with a
company advertising on their site. Then you get 7 other people to do
the same thing. That's all there is to it. It only cost me $1 to
sign up for the offer that got me my free iPod, and it only took
about 6 weeks to get my free iPod, start to finish. Help me get a
new digital camera!

To sign up, click on this link: http://digitalcameras.freepay.com/?r=24047384

Here is the evidence:

This is the company's press room:
http://info.freepay.com/pressroom.html There is a CNN report linked
to their site.

This is from the Boston Globe:

Connection between photography and lantern
Topic: Lantern

The answer is the "Magic Lantern". I just find it accidently in my google search.
According to the website http://www.magiclanterns.org/,
a Magic Lantern is a early projector.

"The first published image of the device appeared in Ars Magna Lucis et Umbrae, by Athanasius Kircher in the late 1600's. Images were painted on glass and projected on walls, cloth drapes, and, sometimes, on a wet cloth from behind the "screen".

Naturally, to see images appear, either from a lantern, that heretofore was a light source only, or onto a screen, was "magical" in those early days.

With the advent of photography in the mid-1800's, it became possible to produce black-and-white images on glass in greater numbers. Still, they had, for the most part, to be hand-tinted or painted until reliable color photographic processes became available much later. Some slides were made by applying decals or transfers to the glass.

Until movies came along, in the mid-to-late 1890's, the magic lantern was the sole projection device available.

Though glass slides would indicate a still image, many innovations in magic lantern design and construction, as well as slide design (moving layers of glass images), allowed dissolving images, movement, and special effects.

Thus, the magic lantern became "the Father of motion pictures, and the Grandfather of television."

Annchou's Lanterns

I always fancied about lights and shadows. The compassion first took on me on the late, dark, wet winter evening when I had to walk to the bus station after writing a LPI test. The whole UBC campus was in a ghost state. But when I walking by the new chemistry building, the rectangulr lights came from a row of window above me remind me I am still on earth and living. The chemistry building is a big lantern. A lantern, afterall, uses to illumine the path in dark. There are several lanterns I made in the year of 2005.
